Rich and Kathy have lived in their home since 1985. Their 3 sons have moved away and they began remodeling their home with a 400 square foot addition to the back of the house.

Many homeowners are getting their dream home not by buying a new one, but by remodeling the existing one.

Rich works as an engineer at Spirit Aerosystems, but “there isn’t anything he can’t do,” says his wife Kathy. He helped build the add-on and decided to re-plumb the house at the same time. He built beautiful cabinets that included crown moulding similar to what Kathy saw at a Home and Garden show.

Kathy picked up many ideas from visiting high end homes at events like the Parade of Homes, Home shows and home tours.

“I knew exactly what I wanted for my dream kitchen,” she said.

Kathy’s kitchen includes specially-built cupboard storage areas, a pot filler over the stove, a push-button microwave drawer, a beautifully etched sink basin and other unique features usually found in homes valued at $500,000 and up. But when it came to the kitchen countertop, she wasn’t so lucky.

“I visited granite and counter-top stores on the East and West side of Wichita, but I just couldn’t find the perfect piece,” she said. But one thing she did know was that they liked the people at Artistic Mable and Granite.

“Sally was great, and so helpful.”

Although Artistic Marble and Granite had a wide variety of stones and solid surface pieces to choose from, Kathy held out. Her and Rich even made a few trips to Kansas City to look at Artistic Mable and Granite’s supplier warehouse. Finally Sally found a piece she thought Kathy would like. It was a granite stone called “Diamond Arrow Granite” from Texas. Kathy fell in love with it.

The granite was installed and completed Kathy’s vision for her dream kitchen.

“I couldn’t be happier with the entire installation process. They used one piece of granite and there’s only one seam in my entire kitchen.”

Rich and Kathy absolutely love their remodeled kitchen and they loved working with Artistic Marble and Granite so much, they’re using them for their next project, creating their dream bathroom.
